Redcoat #2

So the first issue for me was a bit of a head scratcher, but issue #2 is picking up steam. Some more interesting characters are showing up, and this is one I’ll be continuing to read to see where we’re headed. I’m gonna sit back and let Geoff cook a little.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The line quality, color, and emotion shown in this book are fantastic! I did take some points off for composition simply because they decided to do some WHACKY movement with the horizon this time and it was a little disorienting.

Story

The story is getting a bit thicker and more interesting. After his initial death at the end of Issue #1 he is awakened by a teenage Albert Einstein. Shortly after he is revived, they’re attacked by the same mysterious red hooded figures from the ritual in Issue #1. But this time, they’re not letting him get away so easily, and he is wounded in the midst of battle by one of the cultists.

Simon and Albert venture to New York City so they can meet up with the only other immortal that Simon knows, the treasonous Benedict Arnold. For those interested in a history lesson, I suggest checking out this short read that will help explain how BAD of a person this guy really is.

Benedict, who isn’t very happy to see Simon
[for reasons yet unknown] recognizes the axe that he was wounded with. He calls it The Axe of Lies, and revels in malicious delight when he breaks the bad news to Simon – that he will be DEAD in three days….

Certainly Simon won’t be leaving us so soon. Or, at least I hope not! Join me next time when I review Redcoat #3!
