Powerpuff Girls #1

I didn’t buy this book expecting to enjoy it, but what’s not to love about our favorite adorable superheroes? A seriously fun read, these girls really are made of “Sugar, spice, and everything nice”.

Art

The art in this book is fantastic. It’s not only adorable, but it’s also very expressive. The colors are vibrant and the the mood is obvious. The girls are their usual lovable selves and Paulina does a great job of highlighting their personalities with their facial expressions! There are some panels that REALLY jump of the page and this helps tell the story AND keep the book flowing.

Print

I don’t usually do a write-up on print if there’s nothing of note, but in this book I found a few things that really stuck out to me. The cover doesn’t entirely cover the pages:

And there are a few pages in the book where the art isn’t aligned properly so you can see a different page down the middle:

These things don’t necessarily take away from the book too much, and some people might see them as a little nit-picky, but I feel like it’s important to note.

Story

This was such a quick and fun read. The foreshadowing and connection of the ‘Highly Intelligent Machine’ to ‘HIM’ was really fun and brought the story together. The girls realize that Townsville wouldn’t be the same without them.

Next issue I can’t wait to see what MOJO JOJO has in store for the girls…
